The Japanese community has their own set of terms; this will cover terms used in the English community.

Simplifying patterns (into chords) by intentionally pressing notes earlier or later. |

Shifting your hand between buttons rather than staying in a stationary position. |
| Zenoshi (全押し) | Literally “all press” or mashing to sacrifice accuracy for combo, pattern consistency or other things, for some reason people decided to use the Japanese term |
| AB, FB, ND ABFB |
AB = All Break, FB = Full Bell, ND = No Damage ABFB = All Break Full Bell. The community equivalent of a AP in maimai or AJ in chunithm (although AB is treated just as well) ABFBND is seen officially in some Lunatic titles. |
| AB+ / ACB | All Break Plus / All Critical Break, getting 1010000 on a song |
| Rironchi (理論値) | “Theoretical value”. Usually means to get a perfect score on a chart (1010000), so equivalent to AB+. Can also be used in other contexts like “maximum theoretical rating" or “maximum battle score”. Japanese term which the English community has picked up |

| Grudge / Ongeki | 怨撃, the bullet hell chart. 怨撃 is pronounced “ongeki” and is a kanji pun (Ongeki is 音撃). 怨 means “grudge” and it stuck. Who started it is unknown: 怨撃 is translated as “Grudge Attack” on music streaming services[1] which is most likely where people got the idea. People will also just refer to it as “Ongeki” or “Ongeki Lunatic”. |

| Bracket | Hitting both the wall and a button with the same hand. Examples: The TRIANGLE, Magical Panic Adventure, いちげき! |
| Crossover | Moving your hand over the middle to press the other wall (left hand hits right wall, or right hand hits left wall.) Examples: Let Me Know (feat. Masayoshi Iimori) |
| Purple Line | A type of 5k where the left blue and right red lanes overlap (making a “purple” line in the middle). Can be confusing to read. Examples: 宿星審判 |
| Wrist slam / press / hit | Pressing a button with your wrist/arm while moving the lever. Examples: LAMIA, The wheel to the right |
