1-2-4 (thumb, index, ring) is the most common playstyle by far. The thumb can be problematic (like for thumb trills) but often you can get around it by temporarily switching to a different fingering like 2-3-5.
2-3-5 (index, middle, pinky) is a much less common fingering but also happens to be perfectly usable. Most people find their pinky harder to deal with than their thumb leading to it being less common for general use. But swapping the thumb for stronger fingers makes this useful in a pinch for difficult keyboarding.
